Dear Lion,
Re: Appeal for Sponsorship/ Donation – Lions Nursing Home Kuching

The LIONS NURSING HOME KUCHING (LNH), established in 1992 is Lions Clubs
International Communities and Services programmes. It is the 1st nursing home of
its kind in Kuching and is the signature project of the Region 1 Lions clubs. The
Home is managed by the Management Committee elected from the 13 Lions Clubs
of Region 1 in Kuching, Serian and Kota Samarahan and the nursing care by
salaried staff with nursing profession.

The Home provides nursing care to 40-60 aged residents and employs more than
50 full-time staffs. The Home is licence under the Ministry of Health and abiding to
the legislation of the Ministry including the minimum nursing staff required for
maintaining a private home. Since its inception 28 years ago the Home had served
more than a thousand residents who need special nursing care.

The Home do collect a nominal nursing care fee from the resident and subsidize
those who need financial assistance. Currently, we subsided more than 15% to 20%
of the monthly nursing care fee to about 20% of the total residents in the Home. The
government increasing the minimum basis salary over the last 3 years has great
impact on the Home’s operation. The Home’s annual payroll expenses increased by
50% over the past 3 years and currently comply 85% of the Home’s total annual
expenditures.

LNH being a non-profit organization, its operation is heavily subsidized by donations
from the generous public and funds raised through its annual food fair. The annual
Food Fair revenue contribute to more than 15% of the Home annual revenue. Due
to current global outbreak of COVID-19, it will not be possible for LNH to organize
any Charity Food Fair for this fiscal year. Our financial projection will be in deficit of
RM100,000 to RM150,000 by end of this fiscal year.
